Design of an interactive interpretation panel for a community nature reserve

The Pollinators Project was commissioned for a community nature reserve in Bristol to encourage visitors to discover the diversity of plants, insects and habitats found throughout the site. The challenge was creating an interpretation panel that encouraged visitors of all ages to explore the reserve while discovering its plants, insects and habitats.

At the centre of the design is a seasonal pollinator wheel linking flowers, insects and habitats through a colourful visual system. Supporting elements include a simplified site map, a tree trail and clear identification graphics, allowing visitors of all ages to explore the reserve while learning about local biodiversity.

Installed at the entrance to the reserve, the finished panel balances scientific accuracy with accessible communication, encouraging curiosity and conversation between visitors of different ages. It functions simultaneously as wayfinding, educational resource and public artwork.
